Zones Swimming Sports

Zones Swimming Sports
On the 17th March, I walked into a boiling hot auditorium filled with different schools from our zone. As soon as I walked in, I felt a wave of heat from everybody being put in a small room. Only the best swimmers from year 5 to 8 went to the South East Zones swimming tournament. The tournament went for most of the day- ending just before lunch. We were in the cooking auditorium all day waiting for our races to be called. Since there were so many people in there, the heat got worse than the desert. Our school did pretty well! We got first in some events and everyone gave it a good go.

At the grounds

 I see...
The fielder walking onto the pitch
The bowler staring at me as I stand waiting
The new red ball rushing at me
At the grounds

I hear...
The bowler shouting unrecognisable words
The ball hitting my bat as it makes a thug
The fielder throwing the ball with all his might
At the grounds

I feel ...
The ball shaking my bat
The Astro turf brushing against my shoe
The uncomfortable pads strap on  tight I can’t feel my legs
At the grounds

I want ...
To smash the ball out of the ground
To hear the smashing sound of the wicket as I
Bowl  someone
To hear the team cheer and shout as I catch someone
At the grounds

I wonder ...
How many balls I will smash for six
How many times I will hear the smashing sound of the wickets
How many catch will come flying into my hands
At the grounds

In the Ocean Surf

In The Ocean Surf
I see...
The waves crashing down towards me with the sea breeze whipping salt water on my face.
The wild surf consuming surfers raging towards the shore.
The gargantuan waves creating white horses the size of houses.

I feel...
The waves lapping around my body as the grip of the surfboard runs freely through my hands.
The seawater warming my wetsuit and the free flow of icy water swirling around my toes and numbing them to the bone.

I hear
The sound of the ravenous seagulls swooping down and stealing kids ice creams as they go howling to their parents.
he sound of seashells ringing in my ears.
The sizzling sound of sausages on the barbecue and the sound of cans being popped open.

I want
The waves to swoop me up and lug me to shore.
To drift out to sea and not know when to wake up as the sea carries me like a piece of driftwood lost on a different planet.
To lie down and close my eyes in a forever sleep.

I wonder
When the night will collapse down and force me back to shore with my body as tight as a rock squished into an unnatural position as long hours of surfing takes its toll. When the waves will die down and leave me out here alone.

Senses Poem

Senses Poem

In the forest

I see…..
Skyscraper high figures looking down on me.
With green bushy clothes.
In the forest I see them peering down on me.
In the forest.

I feel….
Their rough and coarse skin.
Their blood of tree sap.
In the forest.

I hear...
The wind blowing the tall figures around.
Their coarse skin cracking.
In the forest.

I smell fresh pine
Straight out of the Earth.
In the forest.

At The Bike Park

At the Bike Park
Kaspar Hayes

I hear
The slow rumble of the chairlift
The clanks of the bikes zooming down the hill
The loud shouts of the people from the bar
At the Bike Park

I see
The bikers soaring through the air like birds
The pine trees swaying in the gusts of wind
The smiles of the kids biking along the path with a puffed parent dashing behind
At the Bike Park

I feel
The sun rays beating down upon me
The crunch of the gravel underneath my feet
The cool breeze against my cheeks
At the Bike Park

I want
To taste the juicy bacon between my teeth
To fly down the trail like a cheetah
To watch people go down with all their might
At the Bike Park

I wonder
When I will be lifted to the top next
If I will ever do the deathifying zipline
How high I will soar on the next jump
At the Bike Park

Acrostic poem - Ocean

Acrostic Poem
Ocean

Octopuses and sea creatures
Calmly swim or crawl through the
Enormous blue liquid.
Amazing objects float on the surface, above the
Noise below.

At the rocks

5 sense poem

 At the rocks

I see…
The rough, ruthless rock face, shimmering in the sunlight.
My clip draws and harness lying on the edge of the fresh, bright green grass.
The beautiful, luscious green trees and plants surrounding me, as I run, excitedly like a cheetah catching its prey.
At the rocks.

 I feel…
The rough rock with my ghost like powdered hands.
The wind cut through me like a knife through cheese.
My fingers in agony, as I desperately try to hold on as l reach to the next hold.
At the rocks.

I hear…
My partner encouraging me, as I frantically leap up and cling on to the next hold.
The distant sound of a speeding scooters slide along the Summit Road.
The ‘click’ as I clip the clip draw onto the bolt.
At the rocks.

I want…
To practise so I can do harder, more challenging courageous climbs.
To have a rest, so I can do another climb To reach the final hold.
At the rocks.

I wonder…
If I can climb a 22.
If I'll have enough energy to belay my amazing partner.
If I can climb to my goals.
At the rocks.

I am who I am

i am who i am...

(free verse)

i am who i am,
and that will never change,
i'm out of the ordinary,
i'm not part or your chain,
i'll come out of the blue,
and surprise all of you,
it's not what i say,
but who i can be,
and let me tell you,
i can be anything,
you'll see.

I Am Poem

I am poem

I am dauntless and thoughtless
I wonder if heaven is real
I hear laughter
I see life
I want lots of dogs
I am dauntless and thoughtless
I understand how computers work
I say life is mysterious
I dream about apocalyptic situations
I try sports
I hope I win lotto
I am dauntless and thoughtless

Out of order
Over the field
To gain possession
But
Also score
Like they want it and
Love it.

Haiku

              Haiku poem

 The sunlight warms my face.
The heat begging me to swim.
The waves cool my body.

Usual enough

The theme park was usual enough. It had roller coasters, water parks, soda shops round it, and even had a bar but I never went to it. My brother, my parents and I, did what families do; sipped on giant slushies in the cool shade, drank them till there was nothing but air. Then me and my brothers sneaked away from our parents to go on a water slide but came back drenched - Doing nothing important.

Ella's 13th birthday celebrations

The day I turned 13!

When I arrived at school, my class had already written ‘Happy Birthday Ella’ on the whiteboard. I felt very special that everyone remembered my birthday. After we did the roll, everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. Lisa (my teacher Aide) baked me a cake to share with the class. Just before morning tea time, we all sat on the floor and Lisa lite my candles for me. Some of the candles kept lighting up after I blew them out. They were tricking me! Elia (my other teacher aide from last year) came in too. Elia gave me a special present.

When Mum fetched me from school she told me I had a surprise waiting for me at home. As soon as I arrived home, I quickly went to my room to change into my new dress. I was only allowed to go into the lounge when Mum said so. I waited and waited and even peeped through the window to see what they were up to. I saw Mum and Maddie putting balloons up. It was very exciting!

When it was safe to enter the lounge, I saw 13 balloons hanging from the ceiling. They spelt out the words “Happy Birthday”. They were pink and white bubble balloons.
Then the guests arrived. We all enjoyed a huge lunch together. There were cherrios, hot dogs, chips, potato salad, fairy bread and carrot and cucumber dips. It was yummy.
After lunch, Mum brought out my Moana cake. This was the best birthday cake I have ever had. It had a Moana doll and a real coconut and passion fruit as well as lollies on it. The cake was made of chocolate and it had orange, pink and yellow icing.
Everyone sang Happy Birthday to me, and then I blew my candles out. We all enjoyed a slice of cake with icecream.

Maddie plugged her laptop into the TV and put the Moana movie on for us. While this was playing I opened my presents.  I got so many presents, I can’t remember all of them! Kieran arrived later on, and it was so nice to see him.

I enjoyed my birthday celebrations. This was a very special day for me.
